Sweet as Can Be//Arizona Valentine Mini Sessions

A few years ago I introduced monthly calendar sessions. These are limited engagement themed sessions celebrating the major or minor holidays that fall during the month of the session. One of the themes I struggled with the most was valentines day. I didn’t want anything romantic for these sessions, after all I work with children. I also wanted the session to be fun for boys. A couple years we tried to include pets, but not everyone had them. One year I made a giant heart out of balloons with another photographer. It was fun, but it felt wasteful to use all those balloons for just one session. Then the following year I struck upon an idea that I just KNEW would be a winner, a candy themed valentines session! It was perfect. It celebrated these little sweet loves in a sweet way they were sure to enjoy. Last year I introduced the tub full of gumballs but this year I knew I had to take it one step further….

I felt like a literal kid in a candy store with an adult sized budget running around picking out all the candy I wanted for this sweet as can be session. The rainbow suckers on the wall and the rock candy in the jars created the perfect pop of color to pull this session together. It will definitely be back next year!

If you love the look of this month’s session, you’ll definitely want to join us next month for our Floral Farmers Market on February 27th. Register Here

A Hipster Toddler Valentine//Arizona Child Photographer

There’s nothing this child loves more than pictures and friends (and if you’re not his friend you’re his neighbor and he loves you just the same). After the birth of his sister I felt he was longing for sometime just the two of us so I set up a date with a friend to go do something creative. I wanted to do a session that had a valentine feel without being overly romantic because he is after all, a toddler.

As I was brainstorming for this session I stumbled across this child sized vespa on Amazon and the entire session came tumbling together. Back in December these two met at a Christmas PJ session and they hit it off so I invited her along for the day.

We never made it TO our coffee shop date spot because (no suprise) he was completely stuck on the vespa and the flowers and the chocolates he kept sneaking between pictures. It was ultimately the perfect toddler ‘date’ because it captured the joy he finds in friends and whatever toy is set in front of him.

Please enjoy these sweet kids being kids.
