After a difficult start to 2020 that included a mandatory closure of Nakupenda Photography for a month, I was eager to get together with these beautiful spokesmodels and create something different. I wanted something that would transport all of us to a magical world for a minute and allow us to leave the stress of the year behind. I was quick to land on Mermaid Magic for our theme despite being landlocked. There’s something about slipping into a swimmable mermaid tail that allows the wearer to be instantly transported to a world of creativity. Each girl picked out a tail in her favorite color and the seashells and sparkly makeup helped complete the illusion.
We met up at my favorite place in the Phoenix Valley, the Salt River and did our best to believe the pebble shores were actually sandy beaches. Hidden along a curve in the river we found our own little space to create our magical world. The girls loved splashing and encouraging each other as they posed along the water. It was the perfect escape from our troubled world. <3
