The beautiful spunky and oh so very fun Olivia.

I was so delighted when she joined my dance squad. I couldn’t wait to create something just for her. Her birthday session last year was one of a kind and I was momentarily stuck on how to top that creativity, but then it came to me, a bright and bold session as fun as she is!

I’ve fallen in love with monochromatic studio images lately and thought that would be the perfect way to capture her bright personality. So we started with that concept as a base for her session. For her first outfit I wanted something that would allow her to move and dance, but was a testament to the little girl that she still is. I knew I wanted to high pony tails with bows and worked backwards from there to pick the rest of the outfit out. Getting all the oranges to be a perfect match was rough, but her mom pulled it off beautifully!

For her second look we decided to go with a dance outfit. I knew a bodysuit would be the perfect fit for the theme and mom quickly found this amazing leo from bluewater dance wear!

All that was left was to find some small rainbow colored props for pops of color, add in this spunky dancer and her session came together just the way I Imagined!

Ps. I did that rainbow makeup! I never do makeup. I’m very excited it worked out!

Which color outfit was your favorite?

My Friends have the cutest kids.

… and the wildest.

This past year I’ve become really passionate about creating sessions that capture not just the child’s image, but a little glimpse into who they are at this moment in time. I’m fortunate to have friends who are always on board with my ideas for their children and I kicked off this idea earlier this spring with his big sister! I’ve loved watching my images become infused over this past year with more and more of the unique characteristics of the kids!

But when it comes to the babies this is a little harder to do. The question, What’s your 1 year old interested in? is often met with the same responses. Mom, older siblings, dad and bath time.

His family spent his actual birthday this summer traveling the country and visiting the national parks. Exploring. Being free. I wanted to incorporate a little of that memory into his pictures and as I was perusing ideas I stumbled across this one. I loved the simplicity of it and yet the whole story of running off and being with the wild things felt like a perfect fit.

I proposed the idea to mom and she agreed that he certainly is “King of the Wild Things”.
